Coastal First Nations Geographic Response Strategies Development

The Coastal First Nations contracted Nuka Research to develop a multi-year-long workflow for thirteen coastal Nations to broaden their marine response capacity. With collaboration from community members, 230 geographic response strategies have been created thus far. Each geographic response strategy was prepared with local knowledge on sensitivities, on-water operating environments, deployment considerations, navigational and safety hazards, etc., and captured in a four-page operational template. This information was achieved through a process of identifying areas of concern and then surveying the region.

After building a solid foundation for this workflow, Nuka Research will continue to work with the communities to develop additional geographic response strategies covering more coastal areas.
