Nuka Research was contracted by USCG Sector Long Island Sound to complete 5 Geographic Response Strategies (GRS) for New Haven Harbor in Connecticut. To develop these GRS, Nuka Research as well as personnel from Sector Long Island Sound, Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, and other members of the Area Committee identified 5 key sites for GRS development, conducted field surveys of these sites to identify important factors that would impact oil spill response capabilities, developed tactics for these sites, and drafted GRS documents. These GRS documents were presented to and approved by the Long Island Sound Area Committee. These GRS will be incorporated into both the Long Island Sound Area Contingency Plan and NOAA’s Emergency Response Management Application (ERMA) tool.
