Earlier this year, Nuka Research supported the Massachusetts Region 2 Health and Medical Coordinating Coalition and its sponsoring organization, the City of Worcester Division of Public Health, in developing a new public health emergency response framework for the 74 communities within Region 2’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition. The goal was to create a framework that:
- Helps local public health departments develop or update response plans
- Clarifies department roles, responsibilities, and operations during an incident
- Supports collaboration and integration of response actions across communities
Nuka Research supported this work through three project phases:
1) Conducting a comprehensive literature review of existing all-hazards plans, laws, regulations, and guidance
2) Facilitating three workshops to gather input and feedback from Region 2 PHEP communities
3) Delivering a final emergency response framework to all Region 2 PHEP communities
We are grateful for the opportunity to do this important work to strengthen public health prepared across central Massachusetts!
