Sam Butler joined the Nuka Research Plymouth office as a Project Manager in 2022 after working with the Hawaii Department of Health (HDOH) as a Senior Consultant on the State’s vaccination support team. During this time, Sam led the development of several Statewide Vaccination Campaign Strategic Plans and COVID-19 After Action Reports (AARs).
In 2020 – before working (and briefly living in) Hawaii – Sam graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) with a Master of Science degree in Emergency Management. While enrolled at MMA, Sam worked as an Emergency Planner for the Bristol County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition (BCPHEPC), collaborating with community stakeholders to improve emergency response plans and overall preparedness.
From 2009 – 2013, Sam attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. After UMass, Sam spent several years living in San Diego, California, and Sag Harbor, New York, where he taught and coached high schoolers and spent time as a caterer, restaurant server, and bartender. Sam grew up in Barnstable, MA. In his free time, he enjoys watching Boston Celtics games, golfing, kayaking, and spending time at the beach with friends and family.
